Geranium [Pelargonium graveolens]

Geraniums sure look nice, but the roots of cranesbill contain a powerful ingredient called tannin. Tannin is responsible for the plant's ability to ease the digestive tract, and it is useful in preventing and treating frequent diarrhea.

Geranium best benefits those with mild gastrointestinal ailments. The presence of tannin in the herb may help alleviate diarrhea, inflammation in the bladder, and other symptoms related to Crohn’s disease.

In African bush medicine, Geraniums were believed to be astringent, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and styptic. The medicine men in Sotho and Zulu tribes created a paste from crushed leaves to staunch bleeding, treat wounds and abscesses, and used the roots in an infusion to wash patients suffering from fever.

Topically, Geranium Essential Oil can effectively eliminate dead skin cells and promote the regeneration of newer, healthier skin. Its astringent property helps tighten the skin and to diminish the appearance of the symptoms of aging.
